The Syndicate

On a frosty morning in March 2030, a recidivist petty thief was arrested for burglary as his feet dangled from the window of an English country home. Although a seemingly routine instance of crime committed by a hopeless reprobate, the occurrence led to an unanticipated and alarming discovery which shook the British government to the core. Within his plunder was a collection of data sticks containing what amounted to a blueprint for the most virulent criminal enterprise ever known. Powerful, organised and ruthless, this paramilitary organisation cultivated a cult-like fidelity in its members and ruled the dark recesses of London’s criminal underworld with an iron fist in a granite glove. But that had only been the start. Once established, the organisation’s influence spread like a blood stain through the fabric of the United Kingdom wiping out all who stood its path before its unyielding power was felt on the global stage. Yet strangely for such a large, complex and sublimely successful illegal enterprise, those in power knew little or nothing about its activities, some even questioning its very existence. Stranger still was the fact that from the very moment this shocking discovery was made, the organisation vanished from the face of the earth and not a single one of its membership was ever identified. The only remnant of this unmatched criminal superpower today is a name. A name whispered between bad men in illicit circles and used as a byword for both brutality and order...the Syndicate.
