The small Grosz Museum is dedicated to the centenary of the previously unexplored journey that George Grosz undertook to Soviet Russia in 1922. Both in his autobiography and in the specialist literature there is little information on the occasion, to the encounters and experiences of George Grosz in St. Petersburg and Moscow during his four-month journey. The interdisciplinary catalogue presents research results that could also be gained through insights into Russian archives, and records the accompanying circumstances, backgrounds and events of this journey as well as prehistory and aftereffects in numerous previously not shown works and documents. New findings on the political development and artistic creation of Grosz during and after the Weimar Republic are presented. Text: Mathias Nehls, Chistian Hufen, Wladislaw Hedeler, Ulrich Weitz, Thekla Sickinger, Sergey Fofanov.
