From Creds, Episode 2:
I studied Verna’s face, her scarlet lipstick and pasty make-up. She had a couple of years on me so it was likely she worked somewhere else before coming to the IRS.
“You’re being surveilled,” she continued. “Always. And that meeting you just had… was a set-up.”
I remembered how Ras said that he he’d heard me on the phone. He didn’t say he overheard me. But no, this idea of a set-up was too farfetched. And as for Verna, she sold paranoia like she’d gotten it wholesale. I had to figure this out.
