Judy Schnachner is the author and illustrator of a number of books for children, including Skippyjon Jones, the first book about this character. It has been awarded the E.B. White Read-Aloud Award for 2004 by the Association of Booksellers for Children, and it was a Book Sense 76 pick. The The Grannyman won the Nebraska Golden Sower Awarn, and Yo, Vikings! won the Chapman Award from PlanetEsme for Best Classroom Read-Aloud for 2002.
At schools and book signings, Skippito's admirers have told Ms. Schachner lots of weird stories about Siamese cats and Chihuahuas, many of which will find their way into future books about the character.
