Using the latest scientific data, the book describes how governments are failing to protect the public by not regulating chemicals and electromagnetic fields in consumer products, why consumers need to take matters into their own hands before they can make an informed choice, and the evidence correlating allergens like mould, wireless technologies and toxicants in our water and everyday products, with chronic illnesses (asthma, allergies, autism, chronic fatigue syndrome and various cancers etc) plaguing western countries.
The book is written in layman's terms to provide consumers with checklists to assess their own home, and educate them on how to reduce their exposure to manmade chemicals and electromagnetic fields whilst living in a technological world. It provides building designers, architects and tradespersons the steps to build a healthy home and provides doctors and health practitioners with the knowledge to diagnose environmental sensitivities.

Author Biography
Healthy Home Expert - Nicole Bijlsma began her career as a naturopath and acupuncturist, but turned her attention to environmental health following two events in her life: when she experienced ten miscarriages and insomnia after moving into her home which she believes arose from sleeping next to the meter panel, and secondly, after noticing a strong connection between many of her patient's illnesses and hazards like mould and wireless technologies in their home.Nicole subsequently established the Building Biology industry by creating the Australian College of Environmental Studies (RTO 21740) which provides the only government accredited training in Building Biology. Nicole is a popular public speaker who is frequently invited to speak at various medical and health conferences in Australia and abroad, has lectured at tertiary institutions for 30 years, has published in peer reviewed journals and industry reports and has extensive media experience (television, radio, podcasts and webinars). She is currently completing her PhD investigating health hazards in the built environment at RMIT. Nicole and her husband Mark sold their home to set up a manufacturing facility to make cleaning products (Abode) and personal care products (Its Your Body) for people with skin and chemical sensitivities.
