Right from the front cover of Planet Earth, we are drawn into the impromptu adventure, simultaneously curious and mundane, of a dungeon-castle’s warden as they search for the source of a mysterious, possibly supernatural voice. The abstract rendering and perspectival otherworldliness of this space, along with our moderately extraterrestrial protagonist, seem to belie the zine’s title, but the gently morbid and endearingly solitary quirks of the warden, along with their casual accounts of wages, government rations, and sentimental purchases, makes the world of this alien “Planet Earth” seem much more familiar than one would first expect. - Printed Matter
