Zola: Blood, Sex and Money.

24 hours of drama adapted from the works of Emile Zola, and his 20-volume series "Les Rougon-Macquart", depicting the entirety of France's Second Empire, from Napoleon III's first accession in 1848, to the grim downfall in 1870-71. Glenda Jackson leads the cast as Dide, 104 years old and matriarch to a family of wolves. Her descendants: the legitimate social-climbing Rougons, the bourgeois Mourets, so prone to madness, and the rough, rugged Macquarts.

Playwrights Dan Rebellato, Olly Emanuel, and other writers craft this series. Originally aired on BBC Radio in 2015-16, in three series of 9 episodes each.

Produced and Directed by Pauline Harris.
