While a young man, Richard Slade witnesses his mother’s suffering before she dies of leukemia. Now sympathetic to people suffering such agony before death, Richard joins a Kevorkian-type organization helping the terminally ill pass over. He believes the terminally ill are paying his fee. Over a six-year period, Richard becomes the organization’s most skilled agent, successfully creating undetectable accidents and chemically induced deaths. When certain occurrences create doubt in his mind of the organization’s true purpose, he begins investigating.
